La Petite Colombe
The inspiration for the interior is very much based on the exterior and the land and the idea of transforming raw materials from the earth into beautiful man crafted objects. Just like one does with the raw ingredients of food in cooking. Stone plinth waiter stations bare the markings of drills and human chisel. Terra cotta tiles are hand cut and painstakingly individually placed to create a never before made screeded floor. Stucco walls are textured and tactile. A Terra Cotta Wall installation looks malleable, paused in the process of molding and pressing.
The marks of human touch and making are apparent. And the La Colombe dove is infused in subtle ways through the space. Bespoke dove feather fabric, wallpaper and elements of dove scilptures remind us of the restaurant's heritage and name.
